NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF TENTATIVE ASSESSMENT ROLL

(Pursuant to Section 506 and 1526 of the Real Property Tax Law)

HEARING OF COMPLAINTS

Notice is hereby given that as of May 1, 2025, the Assessor(s) of the Town of Lowville, County of Lewis, have completed the Tentative Assessment Roll for the current year, and that a copy has been left at the Town Clerk’s Office where it may be seen and examined by any interested person until Grievance Day.

The assessor(s) will be in attendance with the Tentative Assessment Roll at the Town Municipal Building, 5533 Bostwick Street, Lowville, NY 13367 on the following days:

Monday, May 12 4pm – 8pm
Wednesday, May 14 10am – 2pm
Monday, May 19  2pm – 6pm
Wednesday, May 21 Saturday, May 24  10am – 2pm   9am – 1pm, by appt. only

The Board of Assessment Review will meet on   May 29, 2025  at the following times:

4 pm to 8 pm

at the Town Municipal Building, 5533 Bostwick Street, Lowville, NY 13367 in said town, to hear and examine all complaints in relation to assessments on the application of any persons believing him/herself to be aggrieved.

(Application for filing a complaint and instructional booklets are available from your assessor, town clerk, or the Lewis County Real Property Tax Service Agency.)

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE

At a Town Board meeting held March 20, 2025, the Town of Lowville Town Board adopted a resolution authorizing the expenditure of up to One hundred Seventy-Seven thousand sixty and 00/100 dollars ($177,060.00) from the Highway Equipment Reserve Fund for the purpose of purchasing a new 2026 Mack Tandem Dump Truck and One hundred twenty-seven thousand,  three hundred and 00/100 dollars ($127,300.00) for the purpose of purchasing a new Viking Double Wing Plow, Sander and Dump Box.  This resolution is subject to permissive referendum.

Notice to Property Owners in Town of Lowville Regarding Notice Fee Error on Property Tax Bill

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PROPRTY OWNERS IN THE TOWN OF LOWVILLE

If you own property in the Town of Lowville, including the Village of Lowville, please be advised that there was an error on the January 1, 2025 tax bill. The Notice Fee indicated on the tax bill should be $2 not $1. If you don’t pay your January 1, 2025 taxes before April 1st, you must include the $2 notice fee. If you already paid your January 1, 2025 taxes, you do not need to do anything. Any questions, please contact the Real Property Tax Office at 315-376-5336 or the Town of Lowville Tax Collector at 315-376-8070 Ext. 1.

NOTICE CONCERNING THE

EXAMINATION OF ASSESSMENT INVENTORY

AND VALUATION DATA

(Pursuant to Section 501 of the Real Property Tax Law)

            Notice is hereby given that assessment inventory and valuation data is available for examination and review.  This data is the information which will be used to establish the assessment of each parcel which will appear in the Tentative Assessment Roll of the Town of Lowville which will be filed on or before May 1st, 2025.  The information may be reviewed, by appointment, in the Assessor’s Office at 5533 Bostwick St., Lowville, NY 13367 on March 26, 2025 between the hours of 9am and 1pm and on April 2, 2025 between the hours of 9am and 1pm.  An appointment to review the assessment information may be made by telephoning the assessor at 315-376-8070.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE  that the Town Board of the Town of Lowville will hold a public hearing on March 20, 2025 at 9:45 AM at the Town Hall, 5533 Bostwick Street, Lowville, New York concerning a proposed Local Law titled “A Local Law Updating the Administration and Enforcement of Dog Control Within the Town of Lowville.”  The purpose of the proposed Local Law is to update the Town’s policies and procedures, for Dog licensing, Identification and Control and to empower the Town Board to make certain future changes with regard to fees and charges by resolution.

CERTIFICATE OF NO REFERENDUM

The undersigned is the duly appointed and acting Town Clerk of Lowville.  On August 15, 2024, the Town of Lowville Town Board adopted a resolution authorizing the expenditure of funds from the Highway Equipment Reserve Fund.  On August 28, 2024, notice of the adoption of such resolution with an abstract of its terms and notice that such resolution is subject to a permissive referendum was published in the official newspaper of the Town of Lowville.  I hereby certify that more than thirty days have passed since the adoption of such resolution and no petition for a permissive referendum has been filed in my office.
