Vital Records Searches:

If you wish to obtain a birth, death or marriage certificate you need to complete the appropriate request form, have your signature notarized and return it with payment.

Out of State personal checks are NOT accepted.  If you are out of state, you must pay with a money order or certified bank check.

FEES

Fees for certified copies of birth, death or marriages are $10 each.

Genealogy searches are $22 and includes the search and uncertified copy or notification of no record.  All uncertified copies, abstracts, or information issued for genealogical research purposes shall be clearly marked with the statement “For Genealogical Purposes Only.”  See page 2 of application for details pertaining to records authorized for genealogy research.

Marriage License

Those parties interested in obtaining a marriage license should complete the marriage license worksheet and follow the directions included with the link below.  There is a 24-hour waiting period before the license can be used and the license remains valid for 60 days including the date of purchase.  Both parties need to be present at the same time to obtain a marriage license.

Documents needed to obtain a marriage license are as follows:

  • A driver’s license and/or passport for identification
  • Birth Certificates
  • If either party has been divorced, you must bring ALL divorce decrees
  • If either party has been married and widowed, please bring the death certificate.
  • Fee of $40 payable at the time of issuance of the license.

One-Day Marriage Officiant

A person wishing to obtain a one-day marriage officiant license must apply at the same town clerk’s office who issued the marriage license for the couple whose marriage the individual will be solemnizing.  Applicant must be at least 18 years old and is NOT required to be a NYS resident.  The license is limited to the specific couple identified in the application and expires of the date the couple is married or their marriage license expires, whichever is first.  Application fee is $25.00 and must be collected before the license can be issued.  Application can be found below and may be done in person or via mail.

Notary Services

The Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk are licensed by the State of New York as Notaries Public.  Proper identification must be provided and the document must be signed in the presence of the Notary Public.  There is no fee for this service.
